Over the past six months, teachers, volunteers, and parents have been planning memorable events. Recently, all the students in Grades 4–8 were fortunate to go to the Langton Arena to spend an hour skating together.

There were many volunteers who spent countless hours getting everything ready for the big day! Helmets and skates of various sizes were generously donated for the students to borrow that day. We are so thankful for all the volunteers who took their time to help organize the skates and helmets according to sizes.

Mr. Bazilli and Darcy McWilliam took the lead in organizing all the details for the skating trip. The parent council group generously paid the cost for all the students to attend. A big thank you goes out to everyone who made this possible.

Many of the students’ parents remember going skating with their classes a long time ago. They thought it is great that their children are still allowed to go skating now, so many years later. Hopefully this tradition can continue through many more generations.

Several students from Port Rowan have played on hockey teams or participated in figure skating clubs. This school trip allowed many of those ice skaters to have a chance to practice their skills. Even more exciting was for students who have never had a chance to skate before or who needed to brush up on their skills.

There were lots of friendly smiles to see on the trip, everyone enjoyed the skating and had a positive attitude. The students hope they will be able to participate in this athletic activity for many years to come.
