Long Point Lions plan events

By John Krestel

Long Point Lions will hold their annual Marsh Hare supper fundraiser on Wednesday, April 16, at Port Rowan Community Centre. This get-together is always sold out, so get your tickets early from any Lions member. It is a spring event filled with meet and greets and gets everyone going for the warm weather ahead. Our cooks are ready, and if those great-tasting, succulent marsh animals oblige, it will be another great evening.

Bayfest Bingo is coming so watch and attend! Oh, yes, bring along your new dabbers!

The Lions are holding the annual Car Show in June. Watch for the date! Admission to the show around the Port Rowan Community Centre is free on our Canada Day celebration.

The local Lions have a new project on the go called “Soles for Souls Project Canada.” Lion Tony is in charge of collecting shoes and packaging. Call Tony at 519-998-5493 with your donations.

The Lions are donating $10,000 to Norfolk County for the purchase of new tables. It is part of the great love and care we have for the Port Rowan Community Centre since the day it was built in 1955. For the Lions, it is our home base, and the building is still in fairly good shape. It has made a lot of money for our charitable programs, and we need to help maintain it. The building is the second-largest community centre in Norfolk County.
