The Long Point Lioness Lions Club dinner meeting took place on Monday, April 14, at the Country Fork. The guest was Guiding Lion Blair Oatman who held the induction ceremony for three new members—Lioness Sheila Seymour sponsored Susan Gordon, Lioness Beth Lounsbury sponsored Carli Neuman, and Lioness Deb Shaw sponsored Debby Coady. Membership is now 28 and growing as the Club approved two new members who will have their induction ceremony in June. Welcome Glenda Filmore sponsored by Lioness Lauren Nightingale and Marilyn Rockefeller sponsored by Lioness Sheila Seymour.
Lioness Marie Granger presented the timetable for the 2025 Lions A2 District Youth Exchange from June 26 to July 26. Members were asked to consider hosting one of the 16 students coming from several countries.
Lioness Penny Hutcheson remembered Lioness Maria Csoff who passed away March 24 in her 95th year. Maria was a Charter Member of Long Point Lioness Club and a constant volunteer.
Recap of Events
On Saturday, March 29, the Lioness held their sold-out Fashion, Fun and Food Ladies Day at the Port Rowan Community Centre with the theme Less is More. Donations were presented to Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation and Norfolk General Hospital Foundation.
Guest speakers included Dene Elligsen, a local fitness instructor and community inspiration; Cindy Vanderstar, owner of Second to None; Christine Prentice, owner of Worn-Again Jewelry; and Dan Barker of the Burning Kiln Winery. Highlights were the reveal of the two makeover winners, Melissa Pettman and Cindy Marvin, plus a fashion show co-ordinated by Second to None.

On April 14, the monthly donation from the Giving Program was chosen by Lioness Annette Coderre and a cheque for $300 was prepared for the Special Olympics Simcoe Branch.

Tickets for 50/50 draw are underway at $5 each with prize of $3,000 drawn August 31 at Long Point Lions Club Chicken BBQ. Tickets available from any Lioness member, the Country Fork, Jonny K’s Fresh Produce, and Doerksen Country Store.
