Legion history
Founded in 1925, the Legion is Canada’s largest veteran support and community service organization. It is a non-profit organization with a national reach and 1,350 branches across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. With close to 260,000 members, many of whom volunteer an extraordinary amount of time, the Legion’s strength is in its numbers.
Some of the national Legion initiatives include the National Youth Poster, Literary and Video Contest; Legion National Youth Track and Field Competition in August; the biennial Dominion Convention; the Poppy Campaign (from the last Friday in October through November 11); the national Silver Cross Mother (announced November 1); national Remembrance Day ceremonies (November 11); and much more both at a national level and at local branches across Canada.
At the going down of the sun
And in the morning,
We shall remember them.
